Devbhoomi is a temple of Surkanda Devi on the Surkut mountain of Jaunpar, located in Tehri district of Uttarakhand. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga who is one of the nine goddess forms. This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. The idol of Goddess Kali is installed in this temple. According to Kedarkhand and Skanda Purana, King Indra got his lost kingdom by worshiping his mother here. This place is about 3 thousand meters above sea level, due to which Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamanotri i.e. the hills of the four dhams are visible from here. come. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Hanumanji in this complex. It is believed that on the occasion of Navratri and Ganga Dussehra, the wishes of the Goddess are fulfilled in this temple. According to mythology, when Goddess Sati gave up her life in the yagya kund performed by her father Daksheshwar, Lord Shankar was taking the dead body of Goddess Sati around the universe. During this time Lord Vishnu divided Sati's body into 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra, in which Sati's head fell at this place, hence this temple is called Shri Surkanda Devi Temple. The places where the body parts of Sati fell are called Shakti Peethas.
