About

One of the famous Shiva temples in Uttarakhand, Shri Prakasheshwar Mahadev is one of the few temples that do not accept any kind of offerings, donations, even anonymous donations. This temple is situated on the roadside Mussoorie on Dehradun road amidst lush green hills. There are many Shiva temples from Uttarakhand to all over India, but this Shiva temple is special, in this temple there is an influx of devotees during the Hindu festival Shivaratri and the months of Sawan. It is mentioned in the mythological 'Shiv Mahapuran' that Lord Shiva is very fond of flowers of Datura, white flowers of Harsingar and Nagkesar, dried lotus, Gatte, Kaner, Kusum, Aak, Kush etc. It means to say that God is not hungry for wealth, opulence, fifty-six enjoyment etc., but for love. The devotee who engages in devotion with love and goodwill of the Lord, only he has got the darshan of the Lord. Shri Prakasheshwar Mahadev Temple situated on the hill-ki Rani Mussoorie Road in Dehradun is also a reflection of this sentiment.
