About

The Sapta Sarovar is situated very close to the Bharat Mata temple, at this place the river Ganges divides into seven different streams. According to a legend, when the Sapta Rishis were simultaneously engaged in deep penance at this place during the mythological period, at that time the river Ganges divided itself into seven different streams so that its flow could somehow help the Saptarishis to do penance. Since then this place is known as Sapta Sarovar. Even today the river Ganga flows in different streams from this place. Sant Goswami Gurudutt also established an ashram near Sapta Sarovar in 1943, even today many sages and monks come to this ashram to practice yoga. Sapta Sarovar is the most suitable place to sit on the banks of river Ganges for mental peace and meditation.
