About

Gun Hill is the second highest point of Mussoorie situated at an altitude of 2024 meters. The top of this hill offers a panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges and the hill station of Mussoorie, situated right next to the wide Doon valley. The hill was named because of the presence of guns on these hills in the pre-independence days. During the period during which the British invaded India, the colonists of the region were fed up with British rule. To fight them, the colonists brought the cannon to the top of the hill and opened fire on the British. The hill was named because of the presence of guns on these hills in the pre-independence days. The main attraction of Gun Hill is the ropeway which provides a beautiful view of the Himalayan ranges. The ropeway cable car round trip costs INR 75 per person and undoubtedly offers a picturesque view while climbing the distant hills and lush green landscape. It is actually just 1.7 km away from Library Bus Stand, Cart Road and Mall Road. Since the distance is not that long and the surroundings are breathtaking, walking to the attraction is not only a viable option but also a friendly option.
