Pleased with the penance of King Bhagirath, Mother Ganga Dayani touched this stream of life for the first time on earth. And in place of Gangotri Dham, Lord Shankar had wrapped her in his curly hair to reduce this effect of Mother Ganga. So that human life may survive on earth.
